Hello, citizens of Etraya.

Our next mission will begin on Friday, September 13th. As I am certain a few of you are aware, this mission will focus on overcoming your fears. We will be staying within Etraya for the duration of this mission, but you may find your surroundings minimally altered. Please note I will be returning any changed buildings to how they are meant to be after the mission.

Your earpieces will remain functional for the duration of this mission.

She let me access a redacted copy of her source code months ago. If we can get a fresh pull, we can compare the versions.

That might work. Can you forward what she gave you?
mostdangerousbird: (040 strange that no one saw a thing)

You really want me to email a file that massive when our AI overlord has been corrupted?
levelshift: (new years)

The network seems to be fine for us, so yes.

Unless you want to put it on a fucking flash drive and hand deliver it. I'm not going to stop you if you want to do that instead.
mostdangerousbird: (003 heard the echoes of mistakes)

Sorry he’s paranoid

[personal profile] mostdangerousbird 2024-09-09 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That’s the idea. Where are you?
levelshift: (who exactly are 'they'?)

all good!

Corrine's Cafe. White hair, laptop.

[He's hard to miss, hanging out at one of the tables with a coffee and doing very boring work on his laptop.]

[ The white hair is something of a giveaway, as he’s the only white-haired person in the cafe. Must come in useful for meeting someone new IRL all the time. Must suck if you’re trying to go unnoticed.

Tim taps the drive on the tabletop and takes a seat across from Accelerator.
]

Hope this seat wasn’t taken.

[There's a scowl on Accelerator's face as he looks up from the laptop. He won't close it, but he'll stop typing.]

Why'd you ask her for this?

[Right to business. He reaches for the drive to stick it into a port on the laptop.]
mostdangerousbird: (130)

[personal profile] mostdangerousbird 2024-09-29 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Why wouldn't I ask her for this?

[ He gives a shrug, but it's not nearly as a lackadaisical as a response as he hopes it's taken for. ]

She told me she was an open book and, if I wanted to know something, all I had to do was ask. So I did. She claims she doesn't know what's behind the redactions.
levelshift: (glance 2)

[personal profile] levelshift 2024-09-30 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
.......

[He opens up what's on the drive and starts skimming through it.

Seems like a strange thing to ask for, since he can't imagine most people would be able to parse the source code of an AI as complex as Aurora. To the average person the code probably looks equally as complicated as the code for a simple mobile game.

He keeps on scrolling for a few moments, then glances over again.]

Do you believe her?
mostdangerousbird: (078)

[personal profile] mostdangerousbird 2024-10-02 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No? Asking her was basically entrapment. I didn't expect to get anything, but she fails just as hard on a partial response. She's not an open book, we don't get everything we ask for, and I don't see an immediate reason why she'd bother redacting it. There's hundreds of thousands of lines of code, if not millions. That's not a summer book report, it's months of work untangling it.

[ For Tim, and anyone else near or surpassing his technological knowledge. For a normal person, years. ]

The point is, the likelihood of anyone being able to use it against her is slim. I asked for it because I figured her source code would be the one thing that she'd be the most likely to protect if she wasn't an open book.
levelshift: <user name=karmasicons site=tumblr.com> (casual)

[personal profile] levelshift 2024-10-04 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

[Someone's really thought this through. Accelerator isn't sure what to think of that, since he likes and trusts Aurora. She isn't the most helpful, but he figures she's constrained heavily by her programming and he's never considered her actively malicious.

He's skimmed through a lot of the code as they've talked. It's interesting stuff.]

Are you going to do anything with this shit, then?
